Close %, Edit, No time exit, BE and Close: managing an open trade
Close any part of a trade now or when the price reaches your level, change the stop-loss and take-profit at any time, move the stop to break-even, close half or everything, and read the management log.
What it is
Every open trade on a trading account - demo, paper and live - can be managed by hand at any time, whatever model or algorithm opened it. The buttons sit in the Manage column of Trading → account → Open trades:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Re-analyse | Re-scores the trade on fresh data (hold / push the stop / exit). See Re-analyse an open trade. |
| Close % | Close any share of the position now, or when the price reaches a level you choose. |
| SL past pile | Move the stop just past the biggest liquidation pile on the losing side. See Liquidation map, Stop piles and SL past pile. |
| Edit | Change the stop-loss and the take-profit. |
| No time exit | Cancel every clock-based exit of this trade: the time stop, the 12-hour stop tightening of Pair Model trades and the "signal horizon over" exit. The trade then ends only at its stop, its take-profit, a trailing stop or your own close. It asks you to confirm first; the Time stop column then shows off. It cannot be switched back on for that trade. |
| BE | Move the stop to break-even: the entry plus the round-trip fees, so a stop-out there costs nothing net. Greyed out once the stop is already at break-even. |
| 50 % | Close half the position at market and move the stop to break-even. |
| Close | Close the whole position at market. |
| log | The management log: every stop move, partial close and guard action on this trade, yours and the platform's. |
On a live account every action is carried out on the exchange: closes are sent as reduce-only orders and stop / target changes replace the exchange orders, so what you see in the table is what the exchange holds.
Close %: part or all, now or at a price
- Click Close % on the trade.
- How much (% of the position): type a number or click 10 %, 25 %, 50 %, 75 % or 100 %.
- At what price: - leave it empty to close now at market; - or type a price - above or below the current price both work. When the price reaches it, that share is closed at market.
- The line under the fields shows what that share would make or lose at that price, before fees, and the move from the entry.
- Click Close … % now or Close … % at ….
Waiting close orders are listed in the same dialog under Waiting close orders, each with a Cancel button. You can stack several, for example 25 % at one target and 25 % at a higher one.
Things to know:
- Your own close never moves the stop. The stop-loss and take-profit stay as they are for the rest of the position; change them with Edit if you want.
- A price-triggered close is held and watched by the platform, not placed as a resting order on the exchange. When the price gets there it is sent at market, so in a fast market the fill can be a little worse than your level.
- If the stop or the take-profit closes the whole trade first, waiting close orders simply lapse.
Edit: stop-loss and take-profit
- Click Edit on the trade.
- Stop-loss: a closer stop means less risk. A stop above the entry for a long (below for a short) locks in profit.
- Take-profit: the price at which the whole position closes.
- Under each field you see what the level means: the move from the entry in % and the result in USDT before fees.
- Save. The dialog refuses a stop on the wrong side of the current price (a long's stop must be below it, a short's above) and the same for the take-profit.
The new levels apply at once. The platform's own management (for example the late trailing of a Pair Model trade after 12 hours) still continues from your new stop and only ever tightens it.
The numbers in the table
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Stop | The current stop; BE = at break-even, trail = trailing behind the best price. |
| TP1 / TP % | The take-profit and how far it is from the entry (% of price, and below it % of the margin). |
| Expected at TP | What the trade adds to the balance if it closes at the take-profit, after fees and funding so far. Hover for the stop-loss case. |
| Net | What closing now would add to the balance, after the close fee and funding. |
| Best | The best price since entry; a trailing stop follows it. |
| Time stop | Time until the 12-hour mark. For Pair Model trades the trade is not closed then: the badge changes to trailing and the stop tightens half way toward the price and trails. off = you cancelled the time exit with No time exit. |
Limits and caveats
- Manual changes are yours: the platform will not undo them, but its guards (the max loss guard and, on Pair Model accounts, the late trailing) keep working.
- A stop moved further away increases the loss if it is hit. Check the USDT figure under the field before you save.
- Leverage cannot be changed on an open trade.
- Closing at market costs the taker fee and can slip in a fast market. See the risk disclosure.
