Data sources and history depth
Which free public exchange data feeds the tool, the Binance / Bybit / MEXC fallback, how far history goes back and how derivatives data builds up.
All data is free and public
No market-data API key is needed anywhere. The sources are:
| Data | Primary | Fallback |
|---|---|---|
| Futures candles, trades, order book, funding, open interest, positioning ratios, taker volume, liquidations | Binance USDⓈ-M perpetuals (public REST and WebSocket, bulk history files) | Bybit, then MEXC public APIs |
| BTC dominance and total market cap | CoinGecko public data | skipped when unavailable |
| Fear and Greed index | alternative.me | skipped when unavailable |
| Macro calendar | a free public economic-calendar feed | manual entries by the operator |
Fallback between exchanges
The first healthy source serves each coin. If a source fails for a coin, the next one takes over automatically, and the source badge on the widget and pair page shows which one is active. If Binance is blocked where the server runs, everything still works through Bybit or MEXC, with two limits: their free history can be shallower, and some positioning series only exist on Binance. The source order is an operator setting.
History depth
| Timeframe | Stored history |
|---|---|
| 5m, 15m, 1h, 2h, 4h, 1d, 1w, 1M | back to 2018-01-01 (or the coin's listing) |
| 1m | about the last year |
For months before a futures contract existed, the same months of the Binance spot market fill the gap, so the history and statistics cover the coin's whole life. The hosted service prepares the whole catalogue in advance, so the coins you pick are normally ready from the first minute; see Coin selection and the 24-hour lock.
Derivatives data
Funding, open interest, positioning ratios and taker volume are available from the exchanges for a limited recent window. The platform stores every reading from then on, so these series grow over time. Liquidations exist only as a live stream and are collected from the moment a coin starts streaming. The Derivatives tab on the pair page shows the series, the source and the feed status. The liquidation map (estimated stop and liquidation piles above and below the price) is built from this data; see Liquidation map and Stop piles.
Live streams
Candles, trades, order book and liquidations arrive over WebSocket. If a stream goes silent the app falls back to polling and the badge shows polling. Stored candles are compared with live prices continuously; a mismatch triggers an automatic repair and a short-lived amber chip on the chart.
Your data versus shared data
Market data and analysis are computed once per coin and shared by all users. Your coin list, positions, trading accounts, alert preferences and settings are yours alone.
Note: exchanges occasionally rename or delist symbols. A coin that stops receiving data shows no live data; see Troubleshooting.
