The Pattern Engine view: verdict box and position guard
What you see when the pair page's Model picker is set to Pattern Engine, how to read the verdict box, and what the guard banner on an open position tells you.
Where it is
Every pair page has a Model picker in its header with three choices: Pair Model, Flow Model and Pattern Engine. The choice switches the Prediction block under the chart and the levels drawn on the chart. This article covers Pattern Engine; the other two are explained in The Pair Model and the model picker.
The picker remembers your last choice in this browser.
What the Pattern Engine is
The Pattern Engine looks for classic chart structures (double tops and bottoms, head and shoulders, triangles, wedges, flags, channels and more) on nine timeframes and checks each one against what the same structure did on this coin's own history, back to 2018. A structure only becomes a call when it has confirmed and its historical record on this coin is good enough. It is the oldest model in the app and works well as a second opinion next to the Pair Model.
The verdict box
With Pattern Engine picked, the Prediction block shows the verdict box: one coloured line with what the pattern engine says right now.
| Verdict | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OPEN LONG / OPEN SHORT | A pattern has confirmed and its signal is live. The entry range, stop and targets apply. |
| PREPARE LONG / PREPARE SHORT | The best forming pattern would qualify if it confirms. The headline names the level it must close above or below. Do not enter yet. |
| WAIT | Nothing qualifies at the moment. |
| NO LONGS | The Crash Radar is at warning or critical for this coin: long set-ups are not offered. |
| CLOSE LONGS | A long signal is live while a crash warning is active. |
The headline names the pattern, the timeframe and the confirmation level. The note under it says whether the ranges already apply (These ranges apply only once the pattern confirms; do not enter before.). How the entry, stop and target numbers are built is in Entry, stop-loss and take-profit ranges.
The guard banner on an open position
If you hold a position on the coin (in My Positions or on one of your trading accounts), a banner appears above the prediction with the platform's view on that position, for example THESIS ACTIVE, SIGNAL WEAKENING - TIGHTEN EXIT, PROFIT FADING - LOCK IT, TAKE PROFIT NOW or MARKET TURNING AGAINST YOU. It is advice only: nothing is changed on your position until you act. On trading accounts you can act from the Trading page with Re-analyse, Edit, Close % and the other trade buttons; see Re-analyse an open trade.
The evidence behind it
The Techniques & combinations and Pattern history tabs at the bottom of the pair page show the historical record the pattern engine relies on for this coin: which set-ups worked, how often, and every stored pattern with its outcome. Use them to judge how much evidence sits behind a call before you act on it.
Limits
- A historical hit rate is a frequency on past data, not a promise. Patterns fail, and recent market behaviour can differ from the past.
- The pattern engine looks at chart structure. It does not size your position or manage the trade; for automatic trading the platform uses the Pair Model or the Flow Model (see Auto-trading algorithms).
- On a coin whose history is still being prepared the verdict may stay on WAIT until the analysis is complete.
